In the picturesque fishing village of Porto Covo, 400 meters from the beach and inserted in the Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Natural Park, another Pestana Residences development will appear — The Pestana Porto Covo. This village of small white houses, blue stripes and red doors, is increasingly a tourist destination sought after by Portuguese holidaymakers of various nationalities. Porto Covo is surrounded by the most beautiful and natural beaches in the country, steep and hidden along the coast. The island of Pessegueiro is another point of interest. Its name has Latin origins, evolving from the terms pescatorius or pescarium, since in Roman times it was a place for preparing fish, as evidenced by the remains of the salting tanks that can still be seen on the island. It has an excellent beach for windsurfing and sport fishing.
Fish dishes, seafood, cataplana and feijoada made from cowries are some of the gastronomic specialties of this region. In summer, Porto Covo is especially lively. Various sporting and cultural activities are promoted on its beaches and in the town.
